About Our Mouse Pads

Our mouse pads come in several sizes with a black rubber base. They offer one of the best surfaces available for your mouse. They have a smooth, soft surface that works great for optical and ball type mice. There are no bumps or rough spots because the image becomes part of the fabric (See About Sublimation Below).
The top is made of a high quality, bright white polyester material and we use a sublimation process to make your image part of the fabric. The end result is a very smooth, easy glide surface for your mouse.
About Sublimation:
Sublimation is similar to traditional heat transfer, but much better.
Traditional heat transfer applies a layer of ink to the surface of the item being imprinted. There is a defined edge of the image and often the surface will have an irregular feel. These uneven surfaces make a poor surface for a mouse pad. Over time the image may also crack and fade.
With sublimation, we print on a transfer paper and use a heat press to imprint the mouse pad. The difference is in the inks used, and how they react with the polyester fibers that makeup the surface of the mouse pad.
During the heating process, 2 things happen:
1. The sublimation inks turn into a gas.
2. The pores of the polyester fiber open up.
This allows the gas to enter the pores of the fiber. When the heat is removed, the pores close and trap the ink inside. The image that remains is a premium full-color, photographic-quality image that will not crack, peel or wash away from the fabric. Sublimation items are smooth to the touch -- you won't be able to feel any image outline if you run your fingers across the surface. |
