    Lake Norman - Hiking

Lake Norman State Main EntranceHiking at the Lake Norman State Park is very relaxing with a lot to see. The trails are well maintained and marked.

One of the oldest and best is the Adler Trail. The trailhead is in a bad spot because of the construction of the new Visitor’s Center. You can get to it and it is open. It travels along by the old swimming area at the park lake, the Park Lake Dam, then around shoreline of Lake Norman and loops back to the trailhead. At only eight tenths of a mile, it is an easy trail for most anyone.

The Lake Shore Trail is much longer and can be adjusted in length with a crossover about mid way. It has some nice views of the Main Channel and Coves of Lake Norman.

All the Mountain Bike Trails can be hiked but be mindful of the bikes and give them space. Sometimes they will come up on hikers quickly and can’t see them very far in advance.

The Lake Norman State Park has a lot to offer including:

    • Swimming
    • Hiking
    • Mountain Biking
    • Family Camping
    • Group Camping
    • Picnic Areas
    • Picnic Shelters
    • A Community Building
    • Boat Rentals, Not available for the 2014 season due to the construction of the new Visitors Center
    • Fishing
